The Wally Shepard Gym Renovation Project

 

All Saints Catholic School is excited to announce our exciting endeavor to renovate the beloved Wally Shepard Gym.

The Wally Shepard Gym Renovation Project is dedicated to transforming our existing gym into a modern event and sports facility, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for students, parents, coaches, and teachers.

Key enhancements include:

  • ADA Bathrooms: Provide essential facilities for attendees.
  • Drinking Fountain: Hydration for athletes and visitors.
  • Entry Sign + Lighting: Enhance visibility and aesthetics, honoring Wally Shepard.
  • Gym Flooring: Durable surface for sports and activities.
  • HVAC Screening: Conceals HVAC units for low profile appearance on campus
  • HVAC System: Climate control for comfort for students, athletes and visitors.
  • Painting: Freshen and modernize the gym’s look and reflect our school spirit.
  • PE Office: Ensure a functional workspace for staff.
  • Railing: Safety and guidance in stairways and gym balcony.
  • Skylights: Natural lighting to brighten the space with improved moisture seals.
  • Wall Padding: Safety and equipment for all sports
  • Backboards +Hoops: Fresh new look and lower nets for hot-shots.
  • Acoustical Panels: Improve sound quality and reduce noise in the gym.

Wally Shepard’s spirit is deeply woven into the fabric of the All Saints community, especially in the gym named in his honor. Revered as a kind, persistent, humble, and focused servant of God, Wally was many things to many people: friend, teacher, mentor, coach, colleague, confidant, role model, godfather, confirmation sponsor, father figure, and devoted husband to his beloved wife Mary. His distinctive way of addressing students as “People!”–whether in encouragement or discipline–remains a cherished memory. Wally’s spirit inspires us to undertake this much-needed renovation of the Wally Shepard Memorial Gym. Wally’s dream of having a gym at All Saints became a reality in 1983, and since then it has been a cornerstone for our school and community. Now, the gym requires essential renovations, and we need everyone’s support to make it happen. Let’s come together to honor Wally’s legacy and make this renovation a smashing success!

All Saints Gym stands as a beacon in our community, and a memorial to the spirit and inspiration of Wally Shepard who was highly instrumental in the development of the original gymnasium. The space has become an environment where students can immerse themselves in athletic endeavors, artistic expression, and a myriad of enrichment activities. The facility also serves as a pivotal hub for the greater community, where throughout the school year, it is the distinguished venue for CYO’s basketball and volleyball practices and competitions, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and athletic achievement.
